Reading Nordicpineplay freely

Nordicpineplay is a free reading site about ancient-world and island empire strategy games. Every review, essay and tool here is open to anyone, with no account to create, no sign-up form and nothing for sale. By reading the site you accept these terms, which are written to be short and plain.

You are welcome to link to any page, quote short passages with credit and a link back, and share your shortlist or a comparison with friends. Please ask us first before republishing whole reviews or essays elsewhere.

Scores are judgement earned through play

Our reviews and scores are the editors’ considered opinion after playing each game on live public worlds for a month or more. They describe how a game played for us at the time of writing. Publishers update these games often, adding modes, balancing units and changing features, so details can drift.

When you spot something that has changed, write to [email protected]. We check corrections on a live world, update the review and record the date of the change in the text.

Play buttons and the publishers’ own worlds

Each play button opens the game’s official website in a new browser tab. From that point you are on the publisher’s own service, under its own terms of use and privacy policy, and any account you create there is between you and that publisher. We recommend reading their terms before founding your first city.

Whose crests, whose words

Grepolis, Travian, Ikariam, Tribal Wars 2, Tentlan, Anocris and their logos belong to their respective owners and appear here only to identify the games we review. The text, illustrations, layout and design of Nordicpineplay are our own work and are protected as such.

Keeping the site in good order

We work to keep every page accurate, available and quick to load, and we fix problems as soon as we hear about them. Like any website, the site may occasionally be offline for maintenance or changed as we improve it.

Please use the site as it is intended: reading, comparing and sharing. Attempts to disrupt the site, scrape it at a scale that slows it for others, or misrepresent our reviews as someone else’s work are not permitted.

The law that governs these terms

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If we update the terms, the revised date at the top of this page changes, and the new version applies from that day forward. Questions about any of it are welcome at [email protected].
